In his remarks, President Vo Van Thuong said Vietnam welcomes US investors to invest in areas of its interest such as high-technology, chip manufacturing, semiconductor production, green economy, digital economy.

President Vo Van Thuong attended and delivered a speech at a roundtable connecting Vietnamese and US business and localities in San Francisco on November 15 (local time) as part of his trip to attend the APEC Economic Leaders’s Week and bilateral activities in the US.

Attending the talk were Mr. Marc Knapper, the US Ambassador in Vietnam; Mr. Ted Osius, President cum General Director of US-ASEAN Bussiness Council; leaders of ministries, industries, localities and enterprises from both countries demanding to seek cooperation opportunities.

Speaking at  the seminar, President Vo Van Thuong reiterated the milestone in the bilateral relations with the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Việt Nam and the US in September this year, which encompasses cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, investment, education, training, science-technology, and local-level collaboration.

The President highly valued the presence of Vietnamese and US business and localities in the roundtable, and said that high-level agreements and cooperation only come true and bring results when there is a close connection between businesses, educational institutions and localities in both nations.

With the presence of representatives of developing localities such as Ho Chi Minh city, Da Nang city, Haiphong city, Bac Giang province, Hung Yen province; big universities such as Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam’s leading companies, the President expressed his confidence the bilateral cooperation will be more active and robust in the coming time.

The impressive achievements of the leading US firms investing in Vietnam since the two countries normalized the relationship till now has been the clear evidence for investment opportunities and investment expansion in Vietnam.

Vietnam is making its best effort to innovate and standardize institutions in order to create the best favorable business investment environment for US firms who invest in Vietnam so that they are feel confident to do their business, expand their production and develop their investments.

The president stated “The issues that you haven’t satisfied with, haven’t felt secure in public administration, the ways to resolve problems, difficulties are our priorities.  We still haven’t satisfied with these issues and we will try our best to address.

Making his remarks at the roundtable, Mr Ramin Toloui, the assistant secretary for the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs at the US Department State highly spoke of issues raised by President Vo Van Thuong to push relationship between the two countries, and said the established comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the US is the basis for cooperation development in the field of semiconductors.

Vietnam’s advantages and the cooperation from the US side will help building skills for labor of the two countries as well as maximize their potentials.

Referring to the impression of Vietnam’ robust changes in his visits to Vietnam, Mr Ramin Toloui said these illustrated cooperation potentials of the two countries in the future.

Mr. Ramin Toloui stated US firms have invested billions of USD in Vietnam to build new supply chains, create high-quality jobs as well as bring world-leading standards of goods and services, he expressed his wish Vietnam will create the more favorable investment environment so that US companies can confidently invest in Vietnam.

Showing the evidence of the success for US investors to VN, the US Assistant Secretary said that Intel is the leading company in the field of semiconductors in Hochiminh city, to help Vietnam to take part in deeply in the global value chain in a sustainable way.

Besides, the two nations still have the important cooperation projects in building infrastructure, manufacturing alloy in Haiphong city, Danang city, etc.

At the event, President Vo Vab Thuong and US-Vietnam officials witnessed the exchange of cooperation agreements between ministries, sectors, and localities of the two countries in a number of fields such as education – training; greenhouse gas emission reduction; developing industrial parks, urban and eco-tourism areas, and seaport infrastructure; consumption of agricultural products; incubating human resources for microchip design; artificial intelligence and renewable energy development etc.

Remarkably, at the event, Saigon Telecommunication and Technologies Corporation (Saigontel) and Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corporation singed a number of cooperation agreements with localities and businesses of the two nations such as Cooperation agreement between People’s Committee of Hung Yen province, SaigonTel and Allotrope Partners on cooperation, research, supports of Hung Yen province in net emission reduction; Cooperation Agreement between People’s committee of Hai Phong city, Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corporation and Los Angeles Port on cooperation for pushing research, investments, developments of South Do Son port in Haiphong city; Cooperation Agreement between Saigontel, Department of Planning and Investment of Hochiminh city, Energy Capital and partners on cooperation, developments, integration of artificial intelligence solutions in transportation; cooperation on research, analysis opportunities for emission reduction in Ho Chi Minh city; technology research, development path for low-emission and zero-emission renewable energy resources; Cooperation agreement between Hochiminh’s city High-tech Project Management Board, Saigontel, Energy Captital, Allotrope Partners, Maius on supporting Hochiminh city in research, investment development Innovation Center in the city./.
